Drusilla, who is annoying and whiny. I’m a Buffy fan already, so I just fast forward through the Drusilla parts since I’ve seen all of the episodes already.

Such a strange show and concept. It seems so ridiculous and stupid, but somehow it worked. Having an incredibly hot young girl play the heroine helped and having a sense of humor and poking fun at themselves also helped.

1 Star Wow, this is bad
Demon Hunter is as lowest of the low as you can get in terms of low budget horror that fits right at home as a Sci-Fi Channel original movie. Sean Patrick Flanery stars as a human/demon hybrid who hunts his own, and has his sights set on a very evil demon (genre stalwart Billy Drago) in this shlock fest. Now, I don’t have anything at all against low budget horror/thriller/sci-fi films, nothing at all. However, Demon Hunter is so bad in terms of story and some atrociously laughable dialogue that you’ll be busing a gut when you hear it. Flanery is servicable and appears to take the material seriously enough, but one wonders how he got stuck with this bomb. At a very, very brisk 78 minutes running time, Demon Hunter is over before you know it even begun, but mercifully that’s a good thing with this film. All in all, Demon Hunter may be good for an unintentional laugh, and that’s it.

I only watched it because it was late and there was nothing else on. It’s very bad movie. I’m disappointed that Sean Patrick would go from Boondock Saint [ AMAZING ] to demon hunter in a crappy film. Sad day.

4 Stars Buffy The Beginning
Pleasantly surprised by the first season after seeing the movie I didn’t think the show would be too deep. And if this show was given to anyone other than Joss Whedon I’m sure it would have been a complete train wreck.

Buffy moves to Sunnydale with her mom Joyce after being kicked out of school in Los Angeles. She immediately meets her new watcher, Rupert Giles and Angel, hunky vampire with a soul. With their help she starts battling demons and vamps in Sunnydale. And you thought Suburbia was safe!

The villain of the first season is The Master, one of the oldest living vampires in the world. The stories are well structured with sharp, funny dialogue and each character really stands out on their own. It’s fun to see a female action star especially one that has time to be a cheerleader too. A must see for vamp lovers everywhere.

Did Amazon make a mistake with the price of 31.00 on this? It is the shortest of all the seasons and the others are going for 19.00.

5 Stars Giles!!!
Love the show! Writing is absolutely amazing. The cast is fresh and interesting. And Giles… Mr Anthony Stewart Head… What can I say?? He’s FABULOUS!!!

3 Stars Jumped the Shark!
Up until this season, I really loved BTVS; however, the introduction of the whining, bratty little sister, the show lost it’s appeal to me. As a villian, Glory was okay, but she, too, was bratty.

Buffy vs. Dracula was one of the more stupid episodes of the series. It was too contrived and Dracula wasn’t convincing. And yet, “The Body” is probably one of the very best episodes of the series and, perhaps one of the top 20 episodes on ANY television series. However, with the loss of Joyce and Giles, the series lost it’s appeal to me as an more mature viewer.

The series also lost a lot of its punch when Spike is utterly emasculated and becomes a quivering, lovelorn wimp. Spike is at his very best when he’s “The Big Bad.”

The series was still strong, but this season was definitely the beginning of the end.

5 Stars ~*Buffy Review*~
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of my favorite series. And the fifth season doesn’t disappoint! Some people are have a problem with Buffy’s new “sister” Dawn, but I think that it just adds another great chartacter to the show. If you haven’t watched all of the seasons then I insist that you start with season one and watch all of the seasons. It will keep you entertained!

4 Stars Four “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” episodes featuring Cordelia Chase
It seems a bit superfluous to me that in the United Kingdom they had these “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Slayer Collection” DVDs, because our fellow fans across the pond had each season of “BtVS” out on DVD long before we got them. So why would they need these DVDs that offered four choice episodes for each of the main characters? That being said the intellectual exercise is to judge how good of a job they did in selecting this particular quartet of episodes highlight the comedy stylings of Miss Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter). Since she left Sunnydale and “BtVS” after graduation to go to Los Angeles and end up on “Angel,” they only had to pick from the first three seasons of “BtVS”:

“Out of Mind, Out of Sight” (a.k.a. “Invisible Girl”) is the perfect choice for a Cordelia episode from the abbreviated first season. Cordelia and her friends are being attacked by an invisible force, and Buffy and the gang figure out it is Marcie Ross, a girl that no one remembers although they all had classes with her (they all signed her yearbook with “Have a nice summer,” which is not a good sign). Cordelia and Buffy are taken prisoner by Marcie, who plans to disfigure her chief tormentor. However, Buffy saves Cordy and Marcie is taken away by the government to be “rehabilitated.” This is a key episode in terms of setting up Cordelia to become a Scooby in the second season because it confirms that Buffy can deal with weird stuff like this.

Your first guess for a second season Cordelia episode might be “Reptile Boy,” but instead it is “What’s My Line? Part 2,” which is the one where Cordelia and Xander are trapped in Buff’s basement by one of the Tarakan assassins. They get into a giant fight and end up kissing for the first time. Certainly a key moment for Cordy, but I think “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” is her best episode from that season (plus Buffy and Kendra are clearly the focus of what is obviously the second half of a two-part story).

The third season was senior year and so it is not surprising that the two episodes selected reflect the social high points of that last year of high school. “Homecoming” starts with Cordy and Buffy waging war to see who becomes Homecoming queen at Sunnydale High, with everybody else caught in the middle. The Scoobies decided to put the two in a limo together, hoping that they will make up. But Mr. Trick was expecting it to be Buffy and Faith together in the car and so it is that Cordy becomes part of Slayerfest ‘98, which involves a bunch of little bads showing up to hunt down and bag a slayer or two. This sets up one of Cordy’s best scenes when she explains why a ticked off would be Prom Queen is a lot more dangerous than a Vampire Slayer. Definitely a top four Cordelia episode

“The Prom” does have a couple of nice moments when Cordelia realizes that Xander has made sure she looks spectacular for the big dance, and watching Wesley weigh the ethics of asking her to dance is okay, but Cordy really is a minor player in this one. The emphasis is on Buffy, who is determined that since they all might be killed when the Mayor ascends the least she can do is make sure her friends have a hellhound-free prom. The two great moments in this one are when Buffy receives a special award from the senior class and when Angel shows up in a tux (the selection the Sundays of covering the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses” is a Top 10 nominee for best use of a song on “BtVS,” just on the strength of the tragically ironic line, “Let’s do some living, after we’ve died”).

Even though she dies halfway through the episode, “The Wish” is a better choice than “The Prom,” even though the last half of that way is all about Vamp Willow wearing leather. My final verdict is that this DVD ends up having two of the four Cordelia episodes that should be here with the first and third selections. The second is a second tier Cordelia episode, but the fourth is on the third level by that standard, although overall it is the best episodes here, which is why I ended up rounding up on this one.

5 Stars Joss Whedon’s musical episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”
For several seasons we heard the rumors that Joss Whedon was working on a musical episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” but he was being a perfectionist because it had to be just right. Well, “Once More, With Feeling” (First aired November 6, 2001) is about as right as you can get, with every song grounded in the characters. Add to that the fact that the music is pretty good and how can any fan of “BtVS” be impressed? How many times did you replay the episode on your VCR before you stopped humming some of those songs? I was humming “Every single night…” for at least a week, but only when I was not insisting people should “Let Me Rest in Peace.” I had three different CD versions of the musical plus the “for your consideration” Emmy videotape of the episode before it came out as part of the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season Six” DVD collection. But if for some reason all you want is just the episode, then this DVD is available.

On patrol one night in a Sunnydale graveyard, Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) suddenly starts singing about how she is “Going Through the Motions” as she dusts vampires. The next morning she finds out that she is not the only one who has been suddenly bursting into song (”I’ve Got A Theory/Bunnies/If We’re Together”). Even the common people are affected (”The Mustard”) and the only people happy with the situation are the two lovebirds, Tara and Willow (”Under Your Spell”). But the power of the music forces Xander and Anya to be honest to each other about their fears regarding their upcoming nuptials (”I’ll Never Tell”) and it does not help Marti Noxon (”The Parking Ticket”). Spike is also brutally honest with Buffy in his song (”Rest in Peace”), while something Dawn leads Tara to discover that she has been under Willow’s spell in more than one way.

Dawn is left out of the song (”Dawn’s Lament”) but not the dance part of the festivities (”Dawn’s Ballet”) and meets Sweet (guest star Hinton Battle), the demon behind the music (”What You Feel”), who reveals his plans: marry Dawn and let the Slayer dance herself to death. Meanwhile, Giles comes to the conclusion that he is just “Standing” in the way of Buffy growing up and both he and Tara decide the time has come to leave (”Under Your Spell/Standing – Reprise”). So Buffy is sent off to fight Sweet alone, but of course everybody shows up to lend a hand (”Walk Through the Fire”). There they learn the horrible truth, that they did not save Buffy from a hell dimension but instead ripped her from the eternal bliss of heaven (”Something to Sing About”). It is Spike who saves her from the demon and the ending is rather anticlimactic when they discover it was not Dawn who summoned the demon but Xander, worried about his future with Anya. The deal is off (”What You Feel – Reprise”) and the gang is left to ask the musical question, “Where Do We Go From Here?”

We all knew Anthony Stewart Head could sing from his acoustic versions of “Green Eyes” and “Freebird” (plus “The Exposition Song”), but Amber Benson certainly does a very nice job with both her big number and the reprise, and you have to give Sarah Michelle Gellar points for giving it her best when you know this is not something she is comfortable doing before the entire world. But then we are back to giving Joss credit for writing songs that played to the vocal strengths (or lack thereof) for his cast (e.g., Willow’s “most filler” line in “Walk Through the Fire”). That is why Nicholas Brendon is able to do his retro pastiche that is never going to be breakaway pop hit with Emma Caulfield (I love the sound of the crickets chirping before Anya launches into “Bunnies”). Of course, I am preaching to the people listening to the choir here because fans of the show know they really pulled it off in this episode, which was finished #44 on the “TV Guide” and “TV Land” list of the 100 Most Unexpected TV Moments.”

The cover art for this DVD was also used on the videotape sent out by 20th Century Fox/UPN/Mutant Enemy to plug “Once More, With Feeling” for the Emmys (as well as on the CD, the script book, and the poster art for the episode). However, notice that pictures of Spike and Giles have now been added. Of course, the only nomination the episode received was for Outstanding Music Direction (for Jesse Tobias and Christopher Beck). Oh, and “Under Your Spell” was the song they were pushing for Outstanding Music and Lyrics that was passed over. We all thought that once Joss Whedon was nominated for his script of “Hush” the Emmy people had recognized what great work he had been doing in relative obscurity over there on the WB. We figured “The Body” would obviously get a nomination, but that did not happen. Then we though “Once More, With Feeling” was a no-brainer, but, ironically, it turns out we were right and the people who do Emmy nominations do, in point of fact, have no brains.

As Buffy acompanies Dawn on her first date at the new Sunnydale High, Giles continues Willow’s magic education in England. But while Buffy is surprised to be offered a guidance counselor job, Willow is shocked to experience a horrific future vision of the Hellmouth.

This show failed on every level there is as sci fi and horror. It failed and was canceled twice by 2 networks. this is several discs of terrible. poor acting and terrible scripts abound. save your money

1 Star Completely disappointing
I’ve been a Buffy fan for a long time. I love Buffy. I loved seasons 1-6 and I really wanted to love season 7. I really really tried. I was stoked that Spike got his soul back, I was interested to see what would happen with all the characters … and what happened? A big fat zippo. I mean, primary problem: you can’t kill the first evil, which is the big bad, so the entire plot line was pointless. And then all the episodes were just insipid. Spike had that awesome monologue where Buffy learns he has a soul and I thought “yay, this season’s going to get better!” and then it never did. And Andrew was just annoying as HELL which says nothing of how annoying all the little potential slayers are … or how annoying Buffy is with her weekly big speeches. That’s triple annoying throughout the entire season.

I know if you’re a Buffy fan like I am it’s difficult to skip a season of anything … but I would really recommend it here … just stick with the end of Season 6 … that’s how Buffy should be remembered.

5 Stars Buffy, Angel, Drusilla and Spike, Oh My!
The second season is even hotter than the first with the addition of two new evil vamps Spike and Drusilla. They bring delightful chaos to Sunnydale. The main story arc revolves around Buffy and Angel’s relationship in which Angel turns evil once he experiences true happiness after shagging Buffy for the first time.

Spike and Drusilla revel in Angel’s new persona and help him try to destroy Buffy and the world. The dialogue once again is funny, witty and clever. All the characters get fleshed out and grow even more in the second season. Willow gives up her crush on Xander and starts dating a really cool werewolf named Oz; Xander starts a secret romance with prissy and popular Cordelia Chase; Buffy’s mom finally finds out she’s the Slayer; even Spike grows in his first season when he gives up world destruction to be with Drusilla. Now, that’s love!
