5 Stars better than the first one
highly recommended soundtrack for all fans of Buffy-verse and not fans. Although this cd has less tracks than the first Buffy soundtrack, the pieces are better and the selection is amazing in all senses. I never realized about the really good music Buffy serie had on the background.

I didn’t fall in love with every song on this CD, but there are a enough songs like Sarah McLaughlin “Prayer of St. Francis” and “Key” that make this CD entirely worthwhile!

5 Stars Love!
I adore this CD. However, I don’t remember most of the songs actually playing during the show. Probably just my fuzzy memory. The ones that stick out more clearly in my mind are on the Album, like Virgin State of Mind that played during one of the vamp Willow episodes. One that is sadly missing from both CDs is Goodbye To You by Michelle Branch that played during the episode that Tara moved out of the house. That was a truly memorable Buffy moment.

Nonetheless, I think it’s great.

3 Stars Just Not as Complete As It Should Be – Episode Guide
Despite the extra cost, I wisely chose to import the alternate 21 track Radio Sunnydale rather than settling for the domestic version. Along with featuring my least favorite song from both soundtracks (”Everybody Got Their Something”), the CD is missing some of my favorite tracks from the import (”Still Life”, “Summerbreeze”, and the “bad Buffy” Cibo Matto classic – “Sugar Water”).

But there are a few tracks, including Prayer of St. Francis, that the import doesn’t feature, so it’s a trade off. And both are tragically lacking Michelle Branch’s “Goodbye To You” from “Tabula Rasa”. Regardless of the CD you decide to buy, both should have a handy episode guide to help you identify the episode that features the song. So here it is! (episode number, episode title)

3 Stars Nice mixtape
Even though this version of the soundtrack has less tracks than the UK release, I prefer this one because I can listen straight through without skipping. I find all the songs here very enjoyable and it would’ve been a perfect soundtrack if Coldplay’s Warning Sign and Michelle Branch’s Goodbye To You were included. Hopefully there will be more Buffy music released in the future.

Sarah Michelle Gellar may be saving the world from vampires but her TV show is also helping a few worthy bands get some much needed exposure. Dayton, Ohio’s ridiculously prolific Guided by Voices lead things off with the playful “Teenage FBI,” a strong distillation of the band’s knack for the irrepressible hook. The all-femme Hepburn protest in true “Maggie’s Farm” fashion (as in “I ain’t gonna work on…”) for the quickstepping, bubble-gum punk-pop of “I Quit.” Bif Naked’s arena anthem “Lucky” is perfect for staring at candles. Garbage are in suitably psychedelic glam shades for “Temptation Waits.” Rasputina, the gothic cello ensemble, include the appropriate “Transylvania Concubine.” The only misstep is from virtual old-timers the Sundays, who deliver a lazy-day version of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.” But this is made up for with the inclusion of Nerf Herder’s “Buffy” theme song and Christophe Beck’s instrumental theme music, which round out this all-inclusive collection. –Rob O’Connor

5 Stars For Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fans
My girlfriend loves her Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so she loves this CD. If you were a fan of the Buffy series then this is a must own.

Listening to the cd takes you back to some of the episodes of Buffy. Enjoyable cd to listen too.

4 Stars For the die hard Buffy fan
If you love the show but can’t stay home and watch it all of the time, this is a good way to take it with you. Music from several of the seasons are included. The tone of the show is adequately represented. There are a few musical guests who do not appear on the cd which is a little disappointing but in order to include them all, as well as the many songs played in the background (yes, even Cher!), one would have to create a BtVS cd box set. And why not? Include “Once More with Feeling” and every song ever featured or played on the show.

5 Stars Best soundtrack I’ve ever had!
I think this is the best soundtrack i’ve ever had. It has 18 songs, each different then the last. I believe every song has been in an episode of the show.

Some of my favorites include “I quit”, “lucky” “virgin state of mind” and “nothing but you”.

The songs fit very well with the show and are great for everything else. Some of my all time favorite music. An amazing soundtrack for an amazing show!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Score is an excellent way for fans to relive the classic and memorable moments of their favorite series. It ranges from epic battles to grieving moments. There is scarcely a mood unexpressed by Christophe Beck’s phenomenal compositions.

5 Stars Great for fans, excellent for those who’ve never seen the show
I’m not a hardcore fan of Buffy, but I do have my favorite episodes. I’m also a TV/movie score addict, occasionally finding myself haunted by a particular theme or track I hear, often at unexpected times. With Buffy, I came to expect that higher standard of gripping music, and Christophe Beck always delivered! This CD is by no means a comprehensive collection, but it’s an excellent way to start.

My personal standouts:

“Magic Snow Music” is exactly that. It’s a track you could easily add to a Christmas playlist and a faerie/fantasy playlist at the same time. When I listen to it, I am instantly transported to a skating pond in the middle of a forest carpeted with thick, fresh snow and a gentle cascade of snowflakes coming down around me. If the title hadn’t subliminally caused me to be thinking about snow, I might have found myself in the middle of Fern Gully. It’s such a romantic, lovely track that you’ll instantly fall in love with it.

“Sacrifice Alternate Version” really sounds like the version played in the episode “Bargaining Part 1,” even if it isn’t. If you like that music, or that scene, this track will be a must-have for you. It’s a little more melancholy than the original, as well as less dramatic. If you’re looking for the original version of “Sacrifice” from “The Gift,” you’ll want to get Once More, With Feeling, if you don’t already have it. The climax of the original is much more heroic, where this one leaves me feeling like it didn’t quite reach a certain height, but I do recommend both versions.

“Remembering Jenny” sounds as though Beck might have taken every other note out of the Buffy/Angel theme, added a vocal and a couple of twists to come up with a totally different track that still fits in very easily with the rest of the score. This is a slow, sentimental piece that is sad and peaceful all at once.

“Angel Waits” is creepy, oh so icky– and I love it! The percussion makes me think of footsteps echoing in an empty cavern or sewer. Lock your doors, board up the windows and string up the garlic, folks!

“A Really Big Sandbox” is short, but powerful, with a Middle Eastern overtone that will take you to a desert in Egypt at sunrise with sand swirling around you. It could very easily be the lament of a vampire . If you like the vocals by Mamak Khadem here, be sure to check out the Dracula 2000 score by Marco Beltrami— IF you can find it.

Being Buffy, this score contains many great action tracks as well. I don’t think you have to be a fan of Buffy to appreciate this score, but if you are, get this NOW. If you’re not a fan, get this NOW. In fact, if you’ve never seen Buffy or Angel, but you love scores and good music in general, I think you’ll like it even more. Without having heard the tracks in their original context, you’ll be able to make your own pictures in your mind, and you’ll like them that much more. Definitely take advantage of the MP3 previews here on Amazon and listen to what we’re talking about. Buy it, listen to it, love it.

5 Stars The TV Score That Makes Film Scores Jealous
Listening to this score, you might think it was crafted for a particularly epic feature film. But nope. Christophe Beck put together this intense, sweet, melancholy score together for the cult show Buffy The Vampire Slayer. His brooding but lively music was a perfect match for the brilliant show, and it is one of the few scores I’ve heard that is entirely listenable even without seeing it in the context of the show.

All of the most memorable pieces from “Buffy” are here. From the intense range Beck shows on the opening track “Massacre,” to the delicate “Remebering Jenny,” to the swelling, beautiful strings of “Magic Snow Missile,” to the tender piano of “Sacrifice,” this score has it all and more. Fans might raise an eyebrow at the absence of “Close Your Eyes,” but not only was that piece (probably Beck’s most popular) included on the original soundtrack, but similar music–the Buffy/Angel theme–plays throughout a lot of the earlier tracks. “Massacre” goes from an epic battle score to the tender love theme as effortlessly as one takes a in a breath.

The sheer beauty of the score is astonishing. I’m tempted to break into listing more of the tracks, but the simple fact is that most of these are standouts in their own way. Christophe is a truly talented man, and one of the many factors that went into making “Buffy” a classic piece of television perfection. The show couldn’t have asked for a better score, and I’m thrilled to own it on disc.

3 Stars half-Buffy
It’s a very good selection, but unfortunately there are two and a half seasons missing.I guess they should do a second cd with the part missing, like the score of the final chapter on the seventh season. But at least is a very good item to purchase for good fan of the serie.

5 Stars Not only for the sentimental value…
well,i bought it for this one reason only..to have something as a fan.

but then, as always Buffy surprises you. it’s always more to this show than meets the eye (and so many people don’t see it).

Same with this score. imho Buffy’s music from seasons 1 and 2 is sucky, and there is a great bunch of tracks from those times..

now..season 3 and 4 – this is something special.

My most favorite Buffy’s track (probably from the whole show run) is

A Really Big Sandbox (from “Restless”). I think it sums up pretty well the whole nature of the slayer, this track is so mystical, spiritual and original..

senond best would be Faith’s End (from “Graduation Day”).

now 2 tracks that are sooo sad and beautiful, you’d be almost to the point of crying,

Slayer’s Elegy (from “The Wish”)

Sacrifice (alternate version, from “The Gift”)

and then, what i like most about those tracks, they sorta brings you the feeling of content, calm acceptance and a promise of future.

Remebering Jenny is also very good.

There a few tracks you might put on as a background

(like Moment of Happiness, Loneliness of Six, Sugar High, From the Grave )

Everything else is, well, pretty poor. i mean those other tracks just sorta go with the scene and are just meant to get across whatever that is going on TV; they don’t really sparkle any talent.

Rounding up though, 5 amazing tracks on one CD – I would rate it high. really high.
